ResumeJinhai Zheng has been a professor since 2006 at Hohai University, China where he received the Doctoral Degree in Coastal Engineering in 1998. He carried out joint researches as a visiting fellow at Kyoto University Japan from 2005 to 2006, University of Rostock Germany in 2010 and 2011, University of Dundee UK in 2010 and 2013, Utrecht University Netherlands in 2012,Griffith University Australia and University of Bradford UK in 2016, and MIT USA in 2018, respectively. He obtained the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China in 2014. He was conferred the distinguished visiting fellowship award by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering in 2016, and appointed as a professor of Changjiang Scholarship Program by the Ministry of Education, China in 2017. He also serves as the vice president of research and technology for Hohai University from 2017. His research interests cover estuarine and coastal processes, harbor and waterway engineering, coastal engineering and resilience, marine renewable energy engineering. He conducted numerical and experimental studies upon characteristics of hydrodynamics and morphodynamics along with their responses to engineering projects in the Yangtze River Estuary, the Pearl River Delta and along the southeast coasts of China. As one of the main members of research program of Key Technologies and Applications of Multi-objective Hydraulic Control in Complex River Network, he won the second prize of National Award for Progress of Science and Technology in China in 2014. He organized the preparation and translation of 12 standard codes of the waterborne transportation practice of the People’s Republic of China. He is the co-developer of a directional spectral wave model based on the wave action balance equation with diffraction, reflection, and wave-current interaction capabilities, which was included in the Coastal Inlets Research Program’s Coastal Modelling System of US Army Engineer Research and Development Center. He is the author of about 200 academic publications, one of which was chosen as 2014 Best Journal Paper Award of the Journal of Waterway Port Coastal and Ocean Engineering “by evaluating the quality of the study as well as its application to engineering practice (ASCE).”About
